About Dan

Close-up portrait of a bearded man wearing tortoiseshell glasses and a dark T-shirt

I’ve been living and breathing video games for most of my life, but professionally since 2000. What started as a hobby—long nights tinkering with level editors and dreaming up mechanics—slowly became a career I couldn’t imagine stepping away from.

But over the years, something shifted. While I still love creating games, my real passion became less about the pixels on the screen and more about the people behind them. Maybe it was teaching college students, or becoming a father, but I discovered a deeper joy in helping others bring their ideas to life—mentoring, guiding, and watching them unlock their own potential. There’s something magical about seeing someone’s vision take shape.

I’ve been lucky to wear many hats in the industry—artist, designer, manager, mentor, director—across teams both small and massive, at startups and established studios alike, from small-scale games to gigantic AAA projects. Every experience taught me something new, not just about making games, but about building teams, fostering creativity, and helping people grow. I’ve included some of the games or companies I’ve worked on or for but check out my LinkedIn profile to see the full list of companies I’ve worked for and the games I’ve shipped.

But enough about work—any game developer knows there’s a time to work, and a time to play. Here’s a peek into the other side of me:
